Platinum melt value guide
Platinum is a dense precious metal used in jewellery, investment products and industrial applications. K&J Stack calculates an estimated melt value from pure-metal content and the current platinum spot price.
Platinum purity
Common platinum fineness marks include 999.5, 950, 900 and 850. A 950 item contains 95% platinum by weight.
Spot price vs. sale price
Actual resale values can differ from melt value because buyers may apply testing, refining and transaction costs, while some branded or collectible pieces may carry value beyond their metal content.
How K&J Stack calculates value
The tracker converts grams, kilograms or troy ounces into troy ounces, multiplies the result by the selected purity, and then applies the current spot price. Currency conversion is used when GBP or EUR is selected.
